Social Issue PSA

I decided to focus my social issue on the consequences on cyber bullying and took the perspective of both the bully and the victim. I chose this advertisement because it's been a direct issue in my life and I think it's important to acknowledge that it's a serious issue that shouldn't be ignored. I hope to get people to open up their minds and realize that what they can say has consequences and that we should all be careful with what we post especially about or to a person.

TA- Teens: 12-18
USP- It takes the perspective of both the bully and the victim
Slogan/Tagline- Think before you type

Overall I'm happy with the ending result of my advertisements. It took a while and a lot of second guessing to get to the finished product, but I enjoyed being able to test my abilities in photoshop and getting the outcome I'd hoped for. For tips to someone else doing the project, I'd say try to go outside the box and don't be afraid to try something out you're unsure about. Truth is, it'll probably make the ad a lot more interesting and eye catching. The most challenging part was figuring out a font, determining what was going to make it to the final product between two or three different ideas, and getting the ads to look like they belong together. I think I did well with how I chose the perspectives and the coloring of the photos.

Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook

-Make it visually appealing, don't put too much text, don't make it a link post, make it a picture post.
-Layout should be big and eye catching
-No text has more impact
-Try using people that aren't professional models
-Movement and mood can make or break the photo
-Make sure slogan is big enough to see but not overwhelming
-Make sure there is a logo in the photo so customers know who is giving the ad
-Don't say too much, but don't say too little either
-Make it seem like it's exciting to read and learn about
-Take a photo that would impress the audience
-Every ad should have a logo
-Have a great voice, capture the attention of the audience, amaze them, get them intrigued with the ad
-Use the platform to your advantage
-Don't be bland or vacuous
-Less is more.
-Don't have too many "call-to-actions"
-Be big and bold
-Don't talk to much, keep it short and sweet
-Turn something that would seem boring into something fun and energetic
-Make the audience feel like the people behind the ad are just like them
-Show a real interest in the audience
-Make sure what you're advertising would be pleasing to the eye of everyone
-Include a clever story, have a good voice, and relate to pop culture
-Include a catchy text, maybe in caps, but include a picture that's just as eye-catching

Advertising Shooting Assignment

The social issue I'm addressing is cyberbullying and the consequences that come from it on both sides of the situation (ie victim and bully). I want people to be aware that our actions have consequences and it's not worth costing a life. I like how the victim shots came out, but I had a difficult time figuring out how to get a good shot with the lighting from the bully's perspective. I didn't know what ISO to use or shutter speed and it got really frustrating that my shots weren't coming out the way I wanted, so I didn't get the exact result I wanted. Overall, I'm happy with the outcome of my photos.
